random abilities of objects (spoiler)


In addition to the ordinary weapons your character may find in the
dungeon, some of them may be endowed with additional powers such
as sustains, resistances and abilities. These items fall into three
categories: (1) artifacts; (2) ego items; and (3) ordinary items
which grant additional powers. Some of the powers granted these
items are fixed while others are random. These random abilities may
be either guaranteed or have a varying chance of being granted.

In the pages discussing the various powers granted to such items
(see the Ego Armor and Ego Weapons pages), the assignment of
random abilities is denoted by 'Extra Sustain', 'Extra Resistance'
and 'Extra Power' as applicable. When one of these terms is used,
it means that the item is granted at random an ability from the
respective lists below:

    granting poison resistance and a chance of an 'Extra Resistance'.

    A Holy Avenger weapon has a guaranteed 'Extra Sustain' and a 1-in-4
    chance of granting extra attacks.

Weapon of Westernesse
    A Weapon of Westernesse has a 1-in-3 chance of granting resistance
    to fear.

(Trump Weapon)
    A Trump Weapon has a 1-in-5 chance of being especially deadly
    against demons, a 1-in-7 chance of having an 'Extra Power' and has
    a chance of an 'Extra Resistance'.

(Pattern Weapon)

    life-draining attacks and a 1-in-5 chance of preventing your
    character from becoming afraid.

(Blessed Blade)
    A Blessed Blade has a guranteed 'Extra Power'.

Weapon of Earthquakes
    A Weapon of Earthquakes has a 1-in-3 chance of granting extra
    attacks.

Weapon of Slaying
    A Weapon of Slaying has a 1-in-5 chance of also being a Poison
    Brand weapon and, if an edged weapon, a 1-in-3 chance of scoring
    vorpal hits.

(Chaotic)
    A Chaotic weapon has a chance of granting an 'Extra Resistance'.

Weapon of Slay Evil
    A Weapon of Slay Evil has a 1-in-5 chance of being both a blessed
    blade and preventing your character from becoming afraid.

Weapon of Slay Dragon
    A Weapon of Slay Dragon has a chance of an 'Extra Resistance'.

Weapon of *Slay* Dragon
    A Weapon of *Slay* Dragon has a 1-in-3 chance of granting posion
    resistance and has 2 chances at granting an 'Extra Resistance'.
